Why are you running for office?

I am in my eighth year on the board and I want to continue to help the younger generation get the best possible education we can give them as they are the future.

What experiences have prepared you to serve effectively in this role?

I have been a Goodhue County Commissioner over seeing million dollar budgets. I have ran an Insurance company with large budgets. I am a retired Red Wing Police Officer and all three require decision making skills.

What are your top three priorities if elected?

First, to continue to ensure our students get the best education and to prepare them with life skills. Best education we can give students that want an education. Keeping the financial interests in mind for all of the community members. Working to increase enrollment by promoting the Red Wing School districts educational opportunities like the flight path program, the Red Wing Promise, AI curriculum, to name a few.

How do plan to address your top priorities?

Listening to community members that have ideas to make our schools better.

What do you believe is the greatest challenge facing the people you hope to represent?

Working to tell all the positive things going on in all of the schools. Each school has amazing students and staff.

Public service requires collaboration. How would you work with individuals who hold different viewpoints?

The best way is to listen to them and then explain what we are doing now. People want to be heard and the best thing we can do is to listen.

How will you communicate with and remain accessible to your constituents? 

I use email, phone and personal contacts. I know a number of people in the community and I have dialogue with people on a regular basis.

At the end of your term, what accomplishments would define success?

I want the school district to be in a better position when I leave then when I got elected. We are in better financial shape and we have a dedicated and experience Superintendent.

Tell voters something about yourself outside of politics.

I love spending time with my wife and children. I like to golf and work on the yard.
